Nightnotes in Detroit – Black History Concert & Winter Mixer

February 21, 2019, 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$15.00

Join us for our Black History Month event. BYP is partnering with Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings to bring a bit of Black music history forward to 2019.

Trombonist Vincent Chandler, and soprano Kimwana Doner, along with some of Detroit’s most revered musicians, will present “When Classical Meets Jazz,” a soul-stirring evening of selections from Kathleen Battle’s acclaimed album, “So Many Stars.” This will be a journey through the African-American musical heritage with jazz arrangements of spirituals and other jazz-influenced pieces.

The musical performance will be accompanied by a live painting by renowned Kresge Arts Fellow Saffell Gardner. This will be an evening of enriching Black excellence in the intimate setting of Detroit’s hot new creative space, Hunt Street Station.

BYP Member tickets are $15 (includes food). Abundant free parking. Enter promo code “BYP” during checkout.
